I've just upgraded my Ambit 250 to 32MB using Samsung chips from a stick of laptop ram that I got on ebay £6. I think my internet speed does seem faster.

I'm wondering though why haxorware reports 27MB total ram instead of 32MB, and why before the upgrade it reported 2.7MB instead of 8MB?

Also the amount of free memory never seems to change. It always stays at 81%. I would have thought this would change as I start downloading and browsing the internet.

cushion

I'm not sure if im tripping but if the part # is right that is in that picture thats a 128 mb ram chip ?

Datasheet
K4S281632F-UC75 - 128Mb F-die SDRAM Specification 54 TSOP-II with Pb-Free (RoHS compliant) - Samsung semiconductor

Do you have a part # were we can order one of these memory chips someware in the USA ?

Thanks

Yes its a 128Mb chip. The lower case b stands for bits. An upper case B stands for bytes. There are 8 bits in 1 byte, so 128Mbits / 8 = 16MBytes.

I don't think there are any chips produced that are larger than 64 Megabytes

32MB works just fine with webby2100

Used one from mem module V54C3256164VBT (133mhz sdram)

Code:

the reason free memory doesnt change is because the network buffers are preallocated at startup and will not change the heap memory available afterwords, they have their own little memory manager for allocs/frees

Just wondering if you have to re-load Haxorware again AFTER you perform a memory upgrade or should it work right away after the physical upgrade?
