try using ping and traceroute to test your line quality
so incase you don't like the command line http://4sysops.com/archives/free-winping...-ping-gui/ and http://www.visualroute.com/download.html

Thanks I will try these when I get home.
A ISP tech came ran some of those and said he realised after several pings one would drop or take a while but they don't know why
they changed the nodes and all that but still same crappy service

If they change the node that means all on your street is facing the same problem, not just you.
