Did you have telnet access when you initially received it? If so, this is a case in which the modem arrived functional PER his/her E-Bay description and something that you did to it caused the modem to be non-functional or it just "died" in your possession. This does happen when you buy used electronics, whether it be a laptop or cell phone.
or is the modem in Diagnostic mode on a 5100??
this is what this guy said about the sb5100
"you said in your earlier message the operating lights ont the modem come on when u power it up. now u say the modem did not ship with a power supply. as the auction description the only cable this auction comes with is the power supply which i included with the modem. it is a diagnostic modem you put it in standby and reset thru the dianostic command menu. if you dont know how to configure the modem then it is a user error not a faulty modem."
how true is this??
ive never used telnet im not sure how to use that......
how do i try to use telnet???
