Diagnostic modem?? - GBABY4201 - 18-12-2011 this just means that the modem has new firmware right??? or is the modem in Diagnostic mode on a 5100?? this is what this guy said about the sb5100 "you said in your earlier message the operating lights ont the modem come on when u power it up. now u say the modem did not ship with a power supply. as the auction description the only cable this auction comes with is the power supply which i included with the modem. it is a diagnostic modem you put it in standby and reset thru the diagonostic command menu. if you dont know how to configure the modem then it is a user error not a faulty modem." how true is this?? Did you have telnet access when you initially received it? If so, this is a case in which the modem arrived functional PER his/her E-Bay description and something that you did to it caused the modem to be non-functional or it just "died" in your possession. This does happen when you buy used electronics, whether it be a laptop or cell phone. RE: Diagnostic modem?? - drewmerc - 18-12-2011 third time i've seen that today people saying "how to telnet", seriously what are you people doing? why are you not trying to understand the inner workings of a modem, all the unspoken answers lie there using putty http://the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe Open Putty. Click the 'session' section of the settings panel: Connection type: Telnet Host Name: 192.168.100.1 Port: 23 Close window on exit: Never Click 'open', enter username and password and press enter. (at this point if your modems online you get a cm> prompt if not enter the following command) cd \cm_hal scan_stop cd \ (scanning should now stop) help and there you have it, i guess first you should learn how to use the help command Code: COMMAND: help RE: Diagnostic modem?? - GBABY4201 - 18-12-2011 (18-12-2011, 06:56 PM)drewmerc Wrote: third time i've seen that today people saying "how to telnet", seriously what are you people doing? why are you not trying to understand the inner workings of a modem, all the unspoken answers lie there thank you berwmerc...
