General question about modems

is there a workaround if no way to get subbed modem for dumping certs, snmp is disabled also. What if to try SB5101 Docsis 2.0 with haxorware and set MAC from box which don't use cert (if I find such box)? I read that many systems still have old cable modems that do not support BPI+ and so operators will enable BPI+ in its most limited mode. In this case, modems that support BPI+ will be required to register with BPI+, but modems that do not support BPI+ will register in BPI mode or with no encryption at all. Should this work in theory?

the theory sounds fine but i have to ask how is this different than just using the mac from an old modem as the certs and whatnot are incorrectly signed anyways (ambit200 and below i think)
i'm basing the above on the fact when i first started this years ago i modded a dpx100 and even now and through all the security it's still going strong and has never gone off (and if i ever run into an other subbed dpx100/120 i will always write down the mac as i know they always work with haxor)
but then my bit of the network does have a lot of old modems on it
