sb5101, 1 issue (constant reboots) and 1 question (Force Config File)
#1
Question
Hi and thanks in advance for any information.

I have a 5101 modem with haxor 1.1 r39, my ISP uses BPI+ 1.1.

I had my modem working without issues or reboots for a while my configs were not encripted and i was able to force the config file directly in to haxorware to uncap my current speed, also i have a few certz wich they worked (4 lights on CM) but they had no speed or arround 52kb, however i was able to force the config file to get my desired speed on those certz (i wasnt able to edit the config file cuz they where password protected), now recently got new security in my area and my configs are encripted now, im still able to download them and read them but i havent been able to force them, i got on haxor log:
Neg Or Bad Reg Rsp - Reinitialize MAC...
modem restarts over and over, my first question is:
Can someone tell me what to do to be able to force again my configs? (it is possible?) someting i could read or some pointers that i can get?, ty.

.. so well, when that happend i went over my Certz with speed and CM connects without issues... BUT... since that day my modem gets rebooted every 20 mins or so, mostly in the afternoons, is really random but not at nights not a single time, this for me is sooooo weird and confusing Huh, on haxor event log i get:

Notice M573.0 Modem Is Shutting Down and Rebooting...
Critical R004.0 Received Response to Broadcast Maintenance Request, But no Unicast Maintenance opportunities received - T4 time out

...so i went to telnet and i got this: "Bandwidth request failure! Status = 0"

Here is the telnet log:

tftp-enforce bypass is DISABLED

I'm assuming your ISP is now enforcing that their TFTP Server be used to obtain config files, I see your TFTP Enforce Bypass is Disabled. Did you try enabling it?

If that does not work did you try Auto serving?

Ty for reply Ziricom, yes i have, tried the ENABLED option and I got an unknow error by my ISP; "Bypass failed.Error Unknown", on bottom is a part of the log for when is enabled.

This is how i see my config files names right now: " d;kfoA,.iyewrkldJKDHSUBsgvca69834ncxv9873254k;fg87d ".

And when i try to Auto serve my config file my CM reboots over and over, haxor log gives me: " Neg Or Bad Reg Rsp - Reinitialize MAC... "

and in this log im actually trying to "Force Config File" in haxorwere using my ISP Tftp server IP and the name of the Configs, btw i have tryed the new ones (the encrypted ones, dint work,,,, the Pre new security ones wich you might see on the log " ^1/E466C9AA/Inter.Resid.20Mbps/Moto/Common-Settings ", that was the config i was Auto serving for my internet speed.

As you might see on the log my CM is operational and i have internet BUT only at my base speed, wich is 12mbps, even when the modem log says is "forcing" the 20mbps config file, so what i mean is that my "stock" ISP config file is the one active and not the one im providing.

Any thoughts?

My ISP encrypts their configs in a similar way you used to but its just ^1/RANDOMSHIT/ those numbers and letters are not static.

Tnx, always Good to know more, Pm on the way!

hey , first of all,
1.change your MAC of lan card, every time you try to get on line
2. change the name of comp and its ID #, it is something like over 20 digits, get Hiren disk/utilities, u find there some programs that might do it with one click
3.your cfg and/or cert has to be named according to your ISP provider naming convention

Remember, after a few tryings to get on line, ISP provider might ban your comp, your lan card and who knows what else.

It is new security now, and if u been on some sites, which are not so legit, then those sites might be monitored and IP's logged.

If somebody reported your IP to your ISp, then if u don't know how to get on line, you better try another comp.

On some modems your ISP even put name of your comp and other ID's, is hard to tell what ID's, has to know your provider.

And after each try, copy full image of your modem and read it, delete some crap, and delete all msges.

It is new security and it is not that easy to get on line nowdays

Ups, totally my mistake, First, Thanks for Reply Drewmerc, yes i did that allready and here is the new log, BTW i took some forward steps, MR. Ziricom pointed me on the right track (Thanks ALOT Mate!) and here is my new status regarding config files*, on tftp server i get this error:

"Error:RecvFrom Returns 10040 <"A message sent on a datagram socket was larger than
the internal message buffer or some other network limit, or the buffer used to
receive a datagram into was smaller than the datagram itself."

Any ideas of how to resolve that? is like a damn brick wall, i increased my MTU size on my ethernet card, but i dont think is on my Server side cuz i can "get" and "put" files on server using a Client no problems at all,
