downgrade firmware

Hey everyone im so sorry if this is in the wrong section i really am, but i am trying to downgrade the firmware on a dpc2100r2. can this be done without cables or do i need a jtag or any other cable. I have searched online and found a thread but that doesnt seem to work. Is there any way to do this, please let me know. Again im new at this and just trying to learn.

i have never had a problem doing it without cables using the downgrader, but you should use jtag as if/when you fuck up you'll wish you had
