#1
Hey guys I have a few 2mb dumps from working some working webstars I have cloned. I have a 5100 laying around I would like to flash the certs to so I can get it online . My question is , Is there anyway to flash just the certs (cfg) from the 2mb dump i have? I am using usbjtag nt. Thanks

open NT soft
detect chip
read chip
click cfg tab
cmpram

save cfg

that will pull nonvol from cm

select dump from left hand list after yo8u point NT to that folder
double click dump then click cfg tab on left it should show it loaded
hook up cm
detect cm
click write to chip
cmpram
should have written your new nonvol to the cm..

or.......

detect
ldram cfg
select nonvol
sprogram cfg
cmpram

I use the second method to extract nonvols from dumps and save them as cfg's so it's faster to just swap them instead of writing the whole flash because who has 14 seconds to spare anymore! lol

Thanks. Do you see an potential problems from using the certs from the webstar on the 5100? Will it be easier for CC to detect the clone since it's different modem or will it not matter? I have never had a problem before but only clones webstar to webstar

Depends on your area. That won't work in mine. CC will force you to take a firmware push to get an outside ip. The coup de gras is the fact that the firmware push is only triggered at the provisioning process....not the handshake. That's when the cvc is dated and issued so a full clone will get nowhere as the cmts is expecting a signed cvc that is not there.Stealthing the original modem won't do anything without the cvc.. Putting 5100 certs on a 2100 will get you tlv 11 illegal set and noncritical field invalid in response...no ip no google page no free porn! Again, that's here...you might have different results test and see what happens
