I think I killed it

Even if it has smoke coming out of it, it's not always broken. The SB5101 I'm currently using has been on fire for a minute after I accidently switched polarity but it's still working fine. Same with my Linksys WAP54G (connected a 12V power supply instead of 5V one).

Yeah I tried searching the NT site but I dont see a specific section on the 6120 for debrick, all I get is a few people who had it happen, then they fixed it and said it was a combination of things. then I get this reply from CAPONE:

The 3.3v to spi should only be used in cases where the ISP is NOT KNOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For the DPC3000, the ISP is known So there is NO NEED to provide external Power to flash. I could tell you a few things I know will work, BUT rather you do some READING SO YOU CAN LEARN. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

but yet he did not point me in the right direction. I'm basically blindfolded for a pinata swing, I guess Ill just wander till I smack someone with the stick. Lol... Im gonna try the poke thing, if not, I have generously been offered a helping hand by one of our veterans here in the states. But back to the 3.3v thing, what is he talking about? I didnt need it after all?

By the way, this is Jennifer Lawrence after she read this thread.... DOH!

Yeah well, you know how it is... The only site that is clearly laid out is SBH...The VB boards you have to dig through which makes it hard to find what you need. I know Capone and asked him to help you out privately as you never came off as a freetard so just wait and see... If Capone cannot help you revive it then it is dead for sure. He fixed a NT that I had bar b q'd while trying to replace the usb port on...what a disaster! It was fubarred beyond all recognition and Capone pulled it off! He's a great tester but has almost no patience with testers who won't ask intelligent questions or seem to want a spoon...lol

and no, you do not need the isp point on a dpc...

remove the chip (or even replace it, a blank chip is only a few bucks so thats what i would do)

Thats not a bad idea, I could buy this

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Linksys+-+Ad...&cp=1&lp=1

then pull the mobo out and swap. Bestbuy screwed me plenty of times both with employment and merchandise issues. Will that modem work? It says CC only, and it appears to be a DPC3008 and not a 3000
