Newbie here but will try my best to not sound like a total idiot. I post on Craigslist and needed an easier way to rotate my cable IP on TWC in the Inland Empire without having to manually power cycle my Cisco DPC2100R2 cable modem every time I run macshift.exe. Got the SB5101 premodded from eBay and was able to get online with about 1hr of trying different settings since I am only in BPI area. Anyways I'm online and able to run 2 different computers at once all with unique public ips and able to rotate ips in about 5 seconds... mission accomplished.
I want to prepare for BPI+ security upgrade in my area for if/when it ever happens. I still have my Cisco DPC2100R2 just laying around. Do I need to JTAG into that modem to extract my certs and keep handy for when they are needed, or can I somehow get certs from the sb5101 that is currently online and working just fine?
In http://192.168.100.1/filemgr.html I downloaded the CM0016B531F708.tar file which seems to have 2 certs and 2 keys within, is that what I need when the security upgrade occurs or do I still need those keys/certs from the Cisco modem?
