Problem with SB5101

Oh okay, I just figured I got what I paid for and I didn't want to wait forever but thanks.

I will stop posting until I get the adapter and try method 1.

Okay so I have finally been able to access the haxorware configuration page.
I am connected via the usb connection. I have not purchased any extra things at the moment.

I was finally able to get a telnet log so here it is.
I don't know if I did it right, but please let me know.

I am also willing to pay anyone $15 paypal if anyone can get my internet working again.
I don't know if that is allowed here though.

Also, the sending light is the one where it's stuck at blinking when I turn it on now.

Why not just use the ethernet cable? Usb can't carry any speed if you get it going. TTL is great to have though as some modems are just easier to deal with thru serial. Do you have a jtag of some flavor in case you need to flash the modem?


according to your log you are not connected to the coax. Or your mac is banned and you aren't getting anything after the downstream

For some reason I can't access it via ethernet since previously stated I changed the mac ID on the haxorware page and I can't seem to connect that way, so I am doing it via USB.

Yeah, I don't have any jtag at the moment.
I thought I wouldn't need to flash anything if I was able to access the 192.168.100.1 page, but I guess I am wrong?

I have been trying to look around for other kind of help, but like I said. I am willing to pay someone to just show me the way even, you don't have to fix everything for me. Just help me in the right direction or something.


So if my mac is banned, I assume I would need a new mac address and all those certs I have been reading about?

unplug the coax, set your nic to 192.168.100.1 and plug in the ethernet cable. you should be able to connect. Since you changed the mac the certs are toast...if you're lucky the backup of the original is stored in the modem in filemanager...that's too easy though. you will need some backup nonvols to test with. What isp are you on?

Yeah I was able to to change my ethernet mac to what it was before, I found a txt file with it saved in there for some reason, and I can now access it via ethernet cable!

I had the Time Warner Cable/Roadrunner service.

I have been trying to fool around with fastcert but I don't know the "community string". I read that I can find it in my config file, but I can't access that via tftp or whatever. I am sure I am doing that wrong as well. As for Solsters DHCP Sniffer, I have registered to like 3 different websites and haven't found a legit one yet.

How would I access this file manager to see if the originals are still there backed up by some random act of luck?

Anything else I need to post to help with my situation?
