hi people the othere day i was on this forum because i thort i bricked my ambit i receved it from ebay and tryed entering macs (dont no what i was thinking) the modem rebooted and since i have not been able to connect i tryed changing ip's ect no joy. i was told to try a serial connection so i receved my max 232 cable yday so i headed off into my workshop to notce my rig had no serial port DAMMM. so i pull out one of my old units from time ago plug my max cable hook up ethernet getting ready to flash before i have chance to plug the max into the modem i get a connection so i hit ie and enter 192.168.100.1 and BOOM i get the haxorware page???. i hook it back up to my proper rig set ip's to 192.168.100.10,192.168.100.10 but still no connection so any ideas please

right i have sorted this out now i just swapped network cards over and it works next i need help getting macs as this ius where i screwd up last time

so how do i do this because any other forum i just get attitude this one seems to be cool if i enter a mac into the modem if ity doesnt like it i can not connect it then i have to change my network card and start agean blagg so what do i need to do. also when my modem is pluged in i only get power, eth light no send/rec/syn ect

you cant just change the mac any more, virgins security has updated (ok not strictly true as if your very very lucky you may fine a d1 modem/mac but i doubt it and even that is going to stop in the next round of speed updates that will roll out this year)
anyways what i do to get online is dump the nonvol from a subbed modem flash the nonvol to my haxor'd modem then compare the telnet output of the subbed modem to the haxor'd modem and make them match (i use the internal serial port for this using a usb ttl cable)
now it's the making them match that is the tricky bit (ok they dont have to be a 100% match)

i dont have a subbed modem i only have a bt line and this ambit on the v/m line so is there any way to get it up and running

i mean your not paying for a cable service so it's theft of service which is telecom fraud (max 10 year prison under the telecommunications act of 1984)
if you have a cable service there is no theft of service and becomes a terms of service violation (this is a civil action unlike the above criminal action)

seeing as your british i suggest you look up ondigital and see what happened to that company when nobody paid a subscription
plus any help i gave you now can be classed as aiding and abetting which opens me up to a criminal record/jail time (and is also the reason most sites are unhelpful these days)
