i knew a way to find macs without the modem being online. i used to scan for macs with a modem that didn't have a provisioned mac and i could find modems and use their macs to get online, but i dont remember what program did it. anyone remember? i wish i had that program now so i can figure out what it did to communicate directly with modems in my area.

if your modem completes ranging then scanning should still work (dchp force works that way for me)
