Any puma7 firmware?

This is an interesting change. Is this because of DOCSIS 3.1 or because of the modem itself?
I believe its docsis 3.1 standard . Maybe someone is clever enough to make the d3 certs using the legacy ones. And the 1 gig config didnt work on olders modems it would put them in a loop,keeps rebooting.

I just received a flashcat Nand programmer x-port model , damn, this programs slow. Probably 20 min for a 135mb file , if i were to use it on the puma7 nand I would probably have do it and leave the house for a few hours .There is a problem with the current firmware or driver from the embeddedcomputers website, I had to email them about the problem and within 10 min they sent me a new beta version which fixed the problem. This product is very simple to use. i will be putting it to the test tonight.

I used a heat gun to remove the nand chip , cleaned it up then dropped it into the programmer. Its a little more trickier to put back tho. I usually just touch each pad with the iron to level them then i seat the chip where i want it then tack down one leg on each corner. After that i just solder the rest of the legs.

This is an interesting change. Is this because of DOCSIS 3.1 or because of the modem itself?

Yes, it is a change in the DOCSIS 3.1 standard.

DOCSIS 3.1 certificates have a different root and different set of MFG certificates.
This is the only difference - functionally they are identical, just a different root/MFG.

This also means it is not possible to "convert" D3.0 certs to D3.1, as they are literally just signed differently.

However, you can use D3.0 certificates on D3.1 modems - you just have to disable D3.1 mode.
You will not be able to use OFDM/OFDMA channels unless you have a valid D3.1 certificate, but your 32x8 D3.0 channels will work.
Interesting. How do you disable d3.1 mode ? also I just tried using a config.cm from a d3.1 modem in bitware and the speed was all over the place. The file is 7kb one kb larger than a d3 modem. I was able to use it in forceware but the max the modem can handle is 300mbps now that i have the sb6190 i would like to push it to the limit.

My modem is running Bitware 1.0.5.4. After changing MAC and upload root_pub_key, mfg_cert, mfg_key_pub, cm_cert, cm_key_prv, the modem still not pass registration.

Please help.
