flea Market Modem what a find
#1
Well a few weeks back I was at a flea market with my wife trying to kill some time when I saw a Motorola Modem for $15. I have been currently using a Linksys modem and with heavy downloads I would find my internet connection drop and a I had to reboot it.

I have used Motorola back in AUS so I through that at $15 it was worth a shot. On booting it I was not greeted by the normal Motorola screen but a Haxorware firmware.

I am quite use to flashing and with a bit of Google's help came to this site. for the last few weeks I have been reading and I guess I am ready to plug it in and have a play with it.

I have a current cable connection with Suddenblink I was not looking to overclock the modem but once getting online should I look to do any thing eg lock down the modem in any way ?

humm rajkosto has covered more or less everything to protect you and the firmware
so not much needs to be done if i was you this is what i would do
get the frequency/hfc mac form the subbed modem and put them in haxor and go online download the config
and open it in vultureware just to make sure the spoof strings in the config match the ones displayed in haxor

Thanks drewmerc for your time and help on this looks like I have some more reading to do I will see if I can find the post by rajkosto.

With your idea

Looking at the Subbed Modem I have

Cable Modem MAC Address 00-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX

In the config screen but this does not list if this is the Eth01 or the hfc address it is also on the bottom of the modem so I will give that a shot as I have no other way to find the MAC.

The frequency is "Acquire Downstream Channel 117000000 Hz Locked"

I would guess that I would need to put the frequency in megahertz rather than hertz so 117

Will Google for vultureware

Again thanks for your time.

try changing the bpi settings or use a d1.0 config/mac
