legit cable line

If I get 100% legit cable line, and pay for basic cable, will the modem work fine by itself, or do I have to change something in the pole?

If this is a stupid question, then please excuse my ignorance. It's just that I know they add certain blocks at the pole to limit the extended basic, and premium channels.

Also, do you guys know if the same thing can be done with a dvr.

hey buddy thats a nice thought but depends on your area they dont use any filters here so if some one ordered basic 9.99 cable tv they could
use a modem aswell but its best to atleast pay for basic internet too
