Is there a way the ISP can find out about the firmware in the modem and is there a way the ISP can come to know the make of the modem?

as it's the reason haxorware has spoof settings (tho it's not foolproof)

but yes configs can be signed(over simplified) i myself have not been able to force for 2 years so i guess your isp is doing security updates
