you cant just change the mac any more, virgins security has updated (ok not strictly true as if your very very lucky you may fine a d1 modem/mac but i doubt it and even that is going to stop in the next round of speed updates that will roll out this year)
anyways what i do to get online is dump the nonvol from a subbed modem flash the nonvol to my haxor'd modem then compare the telnet output of the subbed modem to the haxor'd modem and make them match (i use the internal serial port for this using a usb ttl cable)
now it's the making them match that is the tricky bit (ok they dont have to be a 100% match)
