Lets say someone has access to a cable system and can cut off one modem and activate another modem under that account. if you pulled the flash off of that modem, then returned service to the default modem of course. would the certs be any good if you changed the mac to a working one? OR would there be other benifits that you guys could think of? this should be interesting!!!!

that would just be the same as subbing a modem then cancelling, and no it's does not work
if you had access you could just leave the modem enabled and it would work untill there's an audit (if they ever do an audit)

the certs that it would issue can't have only the mac address in them altered and be used? that's what i was wondering

Nope.....unelss you're gonna go to all the trouble to hack Verisign, but then if you can do that you aren't gonna be wasting that knowledge on a modem....lol.
