Ambit will not save settings

Hello, I have an Ambit/Ubee 256 and I have a slight problem (If in incorrect section, could you please move it?)

The guy that flashed it left all the timeouts and so tick.
I have untick and 'Save and Reboot' the modem, but when I click save and reboot, it's seems it's not actually saving it, the modem crashes and nothing happens.

I do the same thing but this time only 'Save' IF the modem don't crash, it saves the successfully, but, when I reload the settings page, they're all tick again.

I don't know any other way around this.
Could someone help me reflash or get it to function correctly?

It's almost as if the chip is in a read only state, nothing will save.

could be a bad flash or a fuck up of the write protect
can you change the mac? as honestly the timeouts are not important (back up nonvol before playing with mac)
also watch the telnet output while changing shit it'll tell you if it's written to the flash

I cannot change mac at all.
As soon as I change it, it reverts to how it was before.
