I know it's rated at 343 down, but has anyone hit anything faster than 122 with one?

I can hit 135 with 6121 and it's 4x4 so I'm sure it can do way better than that.... I just don't have the time to get one online....but when I do I'm hoping for 300+

I'd love to get that config file by the way.

The config wont matter unless your area has 300/10, speeds are capped at that areas highest tier pretty much. they use docsis service groups, most configs dont even have a speed on them, just a service group.

You should not really run anything over 200~mbps on a 8x4 modem, it can cause group delay and unneeded downstream channel changes as the cmts tries to load balance the traffic, example: the cmts has 16 ds and you are loading 8 of them, that leaves 8 with unequal traffic flow, and due to the way docsis works, that can cause problems (jitter in VOIP calls and such, but that's highly unlikely, as VOIP usually pre-empts all traffic.) however it can cause you and others on your downstream group to have high pings and or downstream channel changes, as well as the modems bonding 16 downstream's to have a longer QOS buffer due to the high usage on 8 of the channels.

I kinda dumbed it down a bit, its complicated and yes newer CMTS's are better at handling that type of thing.

That's the reason cable companies limit older modems to 150-200mbps plans at most.

Thank You for taking to the time with a detailed reply. I kind of had an idea that was why. My mind thought of it as having 16 lanes of traffic squeezed on only 8 lanes.
