Since this is Off Topic section: I thought I would let
fellow members know, that on the Side I repair above
mention Tvs. If you ever have a problem, I can maybe
help you figure out what is wrong with it. Most units
go out due to Bad Power Supply Boards. I am not
here to get business, all I will do give you possible
answer to your problem. Most repairs people can do
themselves.

Yup, caps are the First components that go out, especially since
Mfgs use the cheapest ones at assembly time. And I agree, I
will not Touch Panels, I will not also replaced bulbs, to much work
to get to them. Glad to see you are a Handyman also!

I will not attempt it, to do it correctly you need
expensive equipment. I remember during the Direct tv
and Dishnet days, there were a few guys doing it.
But, they would charge you a couple of hundred bucks,
they had to get their money back from buying the
correct equipment.

Not really that expensive, but not that cheap. Just watch the temperature and never go above 230 C on the chip surface.

I'm doing it with a decent digital hot air soldering gun and a preheat station, separate factory units. It can be done and you can make your own setup too, just if you are any inventive.

I do a LOT of BGA reflowing, reballing and replacement on laptops and other logic boards..
Lots of fun. I use dark IR to work with as it dont damage the components on the board.
