Mac Change problem - virgiltu - 21-09-2009

Hello,

I just flashed a SB5101 with Haxorware. "Amazing software"
However Im having an issue. When i have the original mac entered the modem is only and i get redirected to the COX account verification page. Witch makes sens.
However my online modem is a SB5120.
What i waned to do is to clone the SB5101 with the same mac and serial number as the SB5120. However after i change the mac and serial number in the SB5101 the modem boots up. I get a local connection so i can see the 192.168.100.1. All the light boot up on the modem. However 1 minute later the computer loses the connection with the modem. And the Ethernet is just searching for an ip. However all the lights are still on. If I do not plug the coaxial cable in the modem the unit will work normal. Any ideas?

Also what else do i have to do to clone this modem. What im actualy trying to do is to uncap my speed. I cant mod the SB5120 since is rented from cox. So I have to hod the sb5101 receive the config file, change it and upload it again. Im guessing this is how it work. Please correct anything that seems to be wrong. Thank you.

I have tried playing with BPI all options seems to do the same thing. I dont understand y would the computer disconnects from the modem. I mean i can understand if the modem disconnects off the network but not the Ethernet.

I was reading that it will be better to find and clone a different mac then mine one that has a higher speed. if that is correct what would be a good software to sniff macs outside my node.

By the way thank you for the super fast reply.

i use dhcpforce for sniffing outside my node but there are a few

i thought dhcp force was for sniffing inside ubr and solsters sniffer was for outside ubr

RE: Mac Change problem - drewmerc - 28-09-2009

other way round

no, both dhcp force and solsters sniffer will "SNIFF" inside ubr
but if you use the bruteforce in solsters scanner you will get both in and out ubr
