I understand one shouldn't use macs/certs in ones node, but would too far from one's node be an issue? For example: If one is in the east coast, would west coast macs/certs work?

Try it. Some ISP's have closed CMTS's...Thus you go to the activation page. And if the ISP signs their CVC with a new date, you will need THAT new date, not any date, but the specific date for that co signed cvc

The certs are only good for the modem at production. You need a new co signed CVC..

Co signed?
Is that signed by manufacturer and signed by the ISP? As opposed to just the manufacturer?
New co signed CVC? Is this something that changes constantly? If you get a new novol dump from it does it come with the new co signed CVC?

Google Co-Signed CVC
The Co-CVC is signed by that ISP for that system...most (98%) will not make it passed this issue..
