Modem doesn't work after virgin upgrade - Hottwire - 21-07-2009 Hi guys, i have a ambit 250 cable modem haxorware'd and a 250 which is the original one virgin gave to me. The problem i am having is that the hacked modem was working beforehand. I rang virgin because i was getting poor speeds on the line on both modems. They said there was a problem since the 4th July till sunday 19th, after they fixed the line, the hacked modem no longer works and just sits there flashing the recieve and send lights. Although the box virgin gave us still works with a bit better speed now they fixed the line, but i want to be able to use the hacked modem, can anyone give me any advice as to what has happened and what i need to do? Edit: I can give a log later tonight when i am at home RE: Modem doesn't work after virgin upgrade - orinoco - 03-08-2009 Yep, change the mac. RE: Modem doesn't work after virgin upgrade - Hottwire - 31-08-2009 How would I go about finding another mac address? RE: Modem doesn't work after virgin upgrade - drewmerc - 01-09-2009 go to a friends house who pays look on the bottom of there modem copy the mac RE: Modem doesn't work after virgin upgrade - Hottwire - 01-09-2009 Ok , but surely they both can't be online at the same time can they? because this was the problem i was running into before virgin upgraded the line's here. the haxorware modem connected fine, but if you plugged the original modem in, one works and the other dies and they constantly keep trying to kick one another off RE: Modem doesn't work after virgin upgrade - adrian961 - 01-09-2009 You normally can run two modems off a splitter. You need a HFC MAC from a different CMTS{Multiple nodes feed into the CMTS.} than the one you are on. If you use a mac address from your node it will connect and appear to work at first. However there will be a conflict with the other modem and he will loose his registration. Once the other modem realizes it can't communicate it will reboot and sync back up again, causing your modem to reboot... Basically your modem will continually reboot over and over. RE: Modem doesn't work after virgin upgrade - Hottwire - 01-09-2009 So if i put both the modems on a splitter it should work with the same MAC address? RE: Modem doesn't work after virgin upgrade - drewmerc - 01-09-2009 no the modem who's mac you have copyed must be on another node about 2 miles normaly does it RE: Modem doesn't work after virgin upgrade - Hottwire - 02-09-2009 oh ok I see now, is there not a tool i can use to find out any MAC's that use faster speeds? Or is this the only solution RE: Modem doesn't work after virgin upgrade - drewmerc - 02-09-2009 dhcp force may still work were you are |
