SoCal TWC - Riverside Area Change 5/17/12 - GreekDad - 17-05-2012

Last night Edison shut off our entire blocks power (50+ houses) to do emergency pole maintenance. This morning when I woke up I could no longer get online. Previously I was able to get online with BPI 1.0 and no need for certs just using the stealth settings from my cisco modem.

I can get online directly connected to my Cisco modem and get normal 20/1 speeds, however now I cant really get online with the Cisco modem connected to my Linksys router despite resetting and trying everything. I've tried a bunch of different settings in haxorware, especially not autoserving config and trying different configs file but nothing works.

Whats strange is with BPI Bypass the modem says "Operational" however of course doesnt get online and the even log posted above shows why.

So does this mean they just switched us (Corona/Riverside) to BPI+ or could this be something else?
Here is Telnet log for BPI 1.0 which I have been using for a long time to get online.

I'm guessing either

1) I'm now in BPI+ area (strange that this just happens after a power outage) and need to pulls certs from my Cisco modem.

2) My config files are wrong, however Ive tried the 50meg.bin from sbhacker, tried disabling autoserve, and tried another stock one on that forum, all with no success. Maybe I need to pull a new config file through telnet?

Remember our last post about you being in security that all of used to be in 3 years ago?

I can say, 10000%, there is a way, but I wont post it.

So basically during this power outage twc decided to finally upgrade their system to bpi+. To me its just strange timing, would have made more sense to see then randomly one day waking up, but to see it occur only after the power was off 6hrs just seems odd.

So I need to get the certs from my cisco modem and put them into haxorware to get online again Im assuming?

RE: SoCal TWC - Riverside Area Change 5/17/12 - ABMJR - 18-05-2012

You had the firmware pushed....Your modem needed to be rebooted. You may have had SNMP off or re-directed...The DocsDevreset command was never received by your modem. You , again, had the SNMP port 161 re-directed or disabled. Once the power killed your modem, the re-boot wrote the new CO-CVC firmware...

I am a fukking Genius.

Another NCIS LA case solved

Where's My Bitch Bwana'?

I unplug my sb5105 daily for the past 2 months since I have multiple computers and often when changing my ip I have to reboot the modem in order to get online again. Also I don't think I had snmp disabled/redirected so I still find it odd on the timing of this whole thing, then again maybe its just an odd coincidence.

So somehow I have co-cvc firmware, does that mean I'm in bpi+ and need to dump my certs via jtag from the other modem before I can get online again?

Another possible option to redownload and install Haxorware 1.1 rev39 onto the modem again to see if that fixes it?

Doing further research (been reading on this for the past 8hrs.... (if i tftp get the firmware thats being pushed from the config and install that), could this be the magical key I need to research further into?

I totally get it nobody wants to spoon feed me and I understand why. Im not coming here expecting the simple and easy solution, been looking into this all day long, so any tips or pointers your willing to offer is greatly appreciated, and if you have a paypal let me know I'll make a gift donation.

RE: SoCal TWC - Riverside Area Change 5/17/12 - ADDlCTlON - 18-05-2012

twc took that opportunity(planned power outage) to do a reboot to apply to updates. ABMJR is annoying as hell, like a little fly hogging a big pile of dog shit
