please help out a newb sb5101 - weasel440 - 30-12-2011 hello all, i have a couple of questions about connecting my modem (sb5101) via blackcat usb. i soldered the header pin onto modem board. problem i'm having is that blackcat (build 300) usb software, AVR firmware (BCUSB.1.09.SPI.hex) does not connect to modem. it says (no flash detected) and on the bottom it says... waiting for device to be connected. then if i try to use AVR firmware (BCUSB.7.01.EJTAG_32K.hex) it says failed to retrive board firmware version. i followed all there instructions that came with it, but it seems like it is not connecting. am i not connecting something properly? should the lights be on - on the board? i'm running windows 7 pro (32bit) if it makes a difference. any help would greatly be appreciatted RE: please help out a newb sb5101 - drewmerc - 30-12-2011 what version number is on you blackcat the 32k hex is for 1.8 so try using BCUSB.7.01.EJTAG_16K.hex RE: please help out a newb sb5101 - weasel440 - 30-12-2011 (30-12-2011, 03:08 AM)drewmerc Wrote: what version number is on you blackcat the 32k hex is for 1.8 so try using BCUSB.7.01.EJTAG_16K.hex the numbers on the board are BCUSB, PCB 1.8 tried - BCUSB.7.01.EJTAG_16K.hex, connected to device: error connecting to target board & on the bottom of the window it says... blackcatusb failed to connect to target board using JTAG RE: please help out a newb sb5101 - drewmerc - 30-12-2011 make sure the cable between the blackcat and modem are the right way round and i suggest you test the connections with a multimeter RE: please help out a newb sb5101 - weasel440 - 30-12-2011 i got the cable hooked up like they showed in the instructions. i'm assuming when you say "test with a multimeter" for continuity? continuity checks out good from modem board pins to blackcat board pins with cable hooked up. i relooked at the pin outs of both and, they don't seem to match up? RE: please help out a newb sb5101 - drewmerc - 30-12-2011 top image must be wrong, i just plug it in, if it wont connect i just flip over one end (i use a 2x5 idc cable) RE: please help out a newb sb5101 - weasel440 - 01-01-2012 ty for your help so far (drewmarc). that was the problem... just needed to flip the plug around? don't know why but it works. would you be able to shed a little light on changing mac address? i would like it permanent, if possible? i'm not good at writing commands, or understanding the instructions included. any idea why they took out the section for mac address & serial in the blackcat software? i'm not trying to get free internet, in my situation i need / want 2 modems, and (yes i understand they both can not be online at the same time). i went to local company about getting a second modem on my account and they wanted to charge me full price for a second modem / line. RE: please help out a newb sb5101 - drewmerc - 01-01-2012 easyest way is to take a full dump of the modem you wish to copy (read button cfi_flash tab) flash that to your backup modem (write button cfi_flash tab) flash haxor (write firmware button 5101 tab) RE: please help out a newb sb5101 - weasel440 - 01-01-2012 would that work if they are 2 different models? origanal / leased modem is a sb5100. also i got the haxorware V. 1.1-R. 3.9 to work (i think) i went in and changed the mac, usb mac, & serial to whats on my origanal, BUT what is ethernet mac? off topic i do plan on buying another modem (untouched) to register with local company and then i will try the method you mentioned, because i'm tired of paying 7 or 8 dollars a month for there modem. RE: please help out a newb sb5101 - drewmerc - 01-01-2012 if is like you said then yes it's work (subbed 5100 and haxor's 5101) would not work the other way round tho |
