RE: How to prevent your modem from getting 'bricked' - drewmerc - 18-07-2010 1 they are not any more susceptible than a normal stock modem 2 haxorware reasons for my answers 1 theres no clear facts on how often a stock modem bricks, were i am if the modem fails they are swapped same/next working day for a new one (in my time i have seen 3 bricked stock modems and never checked as to why) 2 why do i say haxorware (other reasons than being a fanboy) spansion fucking flash chips, back in the old days there was a certain modem a webby 2100 these modems were made with 2 different flash chips one worked great when flashed the other spansion sucked to get it to write a new mac you had to retry and retry and retry in telnet for hours and hours (to be honest i cant explane how fucking shit this was) anyways i'm cutting this story short cause i'm starting to rage thinking about it so after a few versions of haxor rajkosto fixed it (and this little story is proof that he worked on memory writing to prevent bricks) |
